Donna Gathje Mueller is inducted into the Rochester Lourdes High School Hall of Fame

The Rochester Lourdes Hall of Fame Class of 2009 will be inducted Sunday, Dec 5 2009, in ceremonies at the International Event Center. The class includes Dick Galuska (fall athlete), Jerry Fogarty (winter), Donna Gathje-Mueller (spring) and Dick Sherman (coach). This is the third-annual Lourdes Sports Hall of Fame and is sponsored by the Lourdes Foundation. The 1979 Lourdes state champion football team will also be honored.

Donna Gathje lettered in track for three seasons and was named to the all-conference team all three years. She won the section championship in the two-mile each year was and was the MSHSL state champ in the two--mile in track in 1977 and 1978. In cross country at state, she finished third in 1975 and sixth in 1976 at state. Lourdes finished second at state in 1976 and 1977.

She ran track and cross country at Mankato State University, and took second in the NCAA Division II championship in the 5,000 meters. Gathje earned all-America status in both track and cross country for three straight years.

She is a member of the Mankato State Hall of Fame where she still holds three school records in track.
Gathje ran in the 1980 Olympic Trials and completed the Twin Cities Marathon in 2007.
She has four children, all of whom graduated from Lourdes. She was elected to the Rochester Quarterbacks Club Hall of Fame in 2003.
